I want to help create schools that support current, emerging and future skills. The 21st century will be both challenging and uncertain and meta-skills will be essential. A meta skill is a master skill that magnifies and activates other skills. These are high order skills that that engage functional expertise more effectively and serve as catalysts for learning and building rapid new skills. Research and best practice from around the world should inspire the ongoing design of our schools, built around the needs of each student. This means dismantling existing models of schooling and replacing them with an ecosystem where every decision is centered on cultivating the innate desire and love of learning in children. Schools should be governed, not just by teachers and administrators but by parents and students in a tripartite democracy.
